A fire at Cape Town International Airport has brought operations to a standstill, causing delays and stranding hundreds of passengers.
The fire, which broke out at the airport’s office building and VIP lounge, triggered a power outage, leaving passengers unable to check-in and disrupting internet connectivity.
An eyewitness reported seeing smoke and hearing alarm sirens, with no official communication from Airports Company South Africa (Acsa).
The airport, a key domestic and international hub, serves thousands of travelers daily, and the disruption is expected to have knock-on effects across airline schedules.
The cause and extent of the damage are still unknown.
