This operation is part of Algeria’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.

Tebessa has been a hotspot for terrorist activities, with the Algerian army frequently conducting sweep operations in the area to eradicate armed groups.

Similar operations have been successful in the past, with six militants killed in September 2025 during a counter-terrorism operation in the same region.
