Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially relaunched the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, which was suspended a decade ago due to a court order restricting movement.
The exercise will now take place every last Saturday of the month, between 6:30 am and 8:30 am, with no movement restrictions.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of civic responsibility, urging residents to maintain cleanliness and avoid littering. He stressed that a clean city depends on both government systems and residents’ discipline.
The government will strengthen waste management, improve drainage infrastructure, and support environmental enforcement.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, highlighted the need for collective action, stating that environmental sanitation is a global best practice.
The exercise aims to promote public health, flood control, and sustainable urban development.
