Ghana has parted ways with its national team coach, Otto Addo, just 72 days before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

The decision comes after a string of poor performances, including a 2-1 defeat to Germany and a 5-1 thrashing by Austria. Addo, who had been in charge since March 2024, failed to qualify Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite having top players like Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) released a statement thanking Addo for his contributions and wishing him well in his future endeavors.

The GFA also announced that it will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars soon.

Addo’s departure leaves Ghana scrambling to find a new coach ahead of the World Cup, where they will face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Canada, Mexico, and the USA from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
