The Independent National Electoral Commission has heightened security around its headquarters following tensions over the removal of the leadership of the African Democratic Congress from its official portal.

The action, which followed an Appeal Court ruling, has sparked discontent among some party members, raising concerns about possible protests by aggrieved groups.

In response, security agencies have cordoned off the INEC headquarters to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

INEC, however, maintained that its decision was in strict compliance with the court order, stressing that the commission remains neutral and committed to its role as an independent electoral body.
