The wife of former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has passed away.
Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega’s Janazah prayer will be held at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Sunday, April 5, 2026, after Zuhr prayers.
Bayero University, Kano, where Prof. Jega served as Vice-Chancellor, announced her passing, praying for her soul and the family’s strength during this difficult time.
The university described her as a devoted wife and a pillar of support to her husband, Prof.
Jega, who played a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s electoral landscape during his tenure as INEC chairman from 2010 to 2015.
Prof. Jega is known for his efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic processes and his contributions to the country’s electoral reforms.
The news of his wife’s passing has been met with condolences from various quarters, including political leaders, academics, and civil society organizations.
