Ado Kiri, the pioneer chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, has officially resigned his membership of the party.

Kiri, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023, announced his resignation in a letter dated March 30, 2026, addressed to the Kiri Ward chairman, Malam Saliku Mujtapha.

In the letter obtained on Friday, the former lawmaker said his decision followed careful consideration and his desire to step away from party activities.

“This decision has been made after careful consideration,” he wrote, while expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve within the party.

“I appreciate the opportunity given to me to be part of the party and to contribute, in my own capacity, to its activities and objectives during my period of membership,” he added.

Kiri’s resignation has already generated reactions within political circles in Jigawa State, given his past role in strengthening the APC structure in the state and his influence in earlier election cycles.

The letter did not indicate whether he intends to join another political party, fuelling speculation about his next political move.

He also confirmed that he is withdrawing completely from party activities, leaving supporters and stakeholders uncertain about whether the decision signals a political retreat or a strategic pause.

Efforts to reach him for further comments were unsuccessful, as calls to his known phone line were not answered.

Political observers say his exit could have implications for the APC’s internal cohesion in Jigawa State ahead of future elections.
