The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has officially removed Elie Bitar, a 41-year-old foreign national, from its wanted list in connection with the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) fraud scandal.
Bitar was previously declared wanted alongside seven other individuals over allegations linked to a multi-million-naira crypto fraud scheme that devastated scores of Nigerians financially.
According to the EFCC, new information absolves Bitar of involvement in the scheme, leading to his removal from the wanted list.
The agency affirmed its commitment to tracking down the eight other individuals implicated in the CBEX scandal: Seyi Oloyede, Emmanuel Uko, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun, Johnson Okiroh Ofienolu, Israel Mbalika, Joseph Michiro Kabera, and Serah Michiro.
The EFCC stated that it is gaining ground in its investigations and collaborating with law enforcement agencies worldwide to apprehend the suspects.
