Trabzonspor have suffered a major setback ahead of their Turkish Super Lig clash with Alanyaspor, as in-form striker Paul Onuachu has been ruled out due to injury.
The Nigerian forward was omitted from the travelling squad after picking up a muscle problem during training. The club confirmed on Friday that the 31-year-old felt pain and stiffness in the upper front muscle of his left thigh during a session at the Mehmet Ali Yılmaz training facilities under head coach Fatih Tekke.
Trabzonspor stated that initial assessments point to a muscle injury, prompting his withdrawal from the squad for the Alanyaspor encounter, with treatment already underway.

Onuachu’s absence is a significant blow for the team, given his outstanding form this season. The striker has scored 24 goals in 28 appearances, accounting for a substantial share of the club’s total league goals and establishing himself as a key figure in their attack.
His physical dominance and clinical finishing have been central to Trabzonspor’s offensive play, and his injury will likely force tactical adjustments as they aim to maintain their league momentum.
However, there is some relief for the side, with fellow Nigerians Anthony Nwakaeme and Chibuike Nwaiwu included in the squad and available for selection.
Trabzonspor will now look to cope without their leading scorer as they seek a positive result on the road, while awaiting further updates on Onuachu’s recovery timeline.
