The second edition of the Legislative Summit, themed “Legislating for Impact: Solutions that Scale Local but Serve Many,” was held in Bariga to explore how laws and policies can tackle grassroots challenges while benefiting broader communities across the constituency and Lagos State.

Designed as a forward-looking platform, the summit brought together policymakers, civic leaders, innovators, and citizens. Bariga served as the point of study, with representatives from the eight wards in the area presenting policy proposals across four thematic areas: Youth Inclusion and Good Governance, Health, Environment, and Education and Technology.

At the end of the presentations, judges assessed entries based on criteria including dressing, innovation feasibility and timeframe, slide presentation, policy draft content, and references to existing laws.
Ward G, represented by Cynthia Martins, emerged as the winner and will serve as the 1-Day Council Leader of Bariga LCDA. Ward A, represented by Boluwatife Ogunnaike, placed second, while Ward D, represented by Aminullah Hafsat, came third.
The programme was attended by several political leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. Kolade Alabi; Hon. Adedeji Bukola, Chairman of Bariga LCDA; the host, Hon. Samuel Olufemi Apata, Member Representing Somolu Constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly; Hon. Wasiu Balogun, Council Leader; the management and executive team of Bariga LCDA; NYCN Lagos East Vice Chairman, Comr. Asóro; student representatives; CDA executives; and youths.
