Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided three illicit drug warehouses concealed inside a residential estate in the Okota area of Lagos, recovering tramadol pills and codeine syrup with a combined street value of N16,927,200,000.

The anti-narcotic agency, in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 29, by its Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, stated that the intelligence-led coordinated operations were carried out on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 98 Olukayode Awofisayo Street, Park View Estate, Ago Palace, Okota.

Babafemi stated that during the operations, a major warehouse was uncovered, as well as two other locations at 5 Charles Ndumetu Street, Park View Estate, Ago Palace, Okota, Lagos.

According to him, a total of 2,360,000 pills of high-potency tramadol 225mg and 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup were recovered during the raids.

The agency said the codeine syrup was packed in 19,094 cartons, while the tramadol pills were found in 34 cartons.

Reacting to the operation, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), described the seizure as a major breakthrough against the illegal pharmaceutical drug market and a crushing blow to a major drug syndicate.

Marwa commended the operatives involved in the raid, saying the operation marked a significant victory in the fight against substance abuse and illicit trafficking across Nigeria.

“The scale of this recovery, nearly 4.3 million units of lethal substances, is a testament to the fact that our officers are staying several steps ahead of these merchants of death,” he said.

“To find such volumes hidden within residential estates like Park View and busy hubs like Okota shows the desperation of these cartels, but it also highlights the peerless intelligence capabilities of our team.”

The NDLEA boss further warned drug traffickers that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for their activities.

“Let this be a clear signal to those who think they can profit from the destruction of our children’s futures: we will find you, we will dismantle your networks, and we will bring the full weight of the law upon you,” he added.
