The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held on Saturday night at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, celebrating excellence in African film, television, and digital content creation.

The ceremony, which began at 7 p.m., was broadcast live across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, with viewers also able to stream the event online.

One of the biggest winners of the night was “My Father’s Shadow,” which claimed several major awards, including Best Movie, Best Director for Akinola Davies Jr, Best Writing – Movie, and Best Sound/Sound Design.

Linda Ejiofor emerged as one of the standout performers of the night, winning Best Lead Actress for “The Serpent’s Gift” and Best Supporting Actress for “The Herd.”
Uzor Arukwe won the Best Lead Actor award for his role in “Colours of Fire,” while Bucci Franklin claimed Best Supporting Actor for “To Kill a Monkey.”

The Best Cinematography award went to “To Kill A Monkey,” while “Colours of Fire” won both Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction.
In the television category, “MTV Shuga Mashariki” won Best Writing – TV Series, while “Inimba” emerged as Best Scripted Series and Best Indigenous M-Net Original.

“Nigerian Idol” won Best Unscripted Series, while “Leave To Live” by Emmanuel Kanaga and Sophia Chisom received the Best Digital Content Creator award.
In the indigenous language film categories, “Lisabi (A Legend Is Born)” won Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), while winners also emerged from East, North, Central, and Southern Africa.

The event also featured special recognition awards. Veteran Nollywood stars Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while actress Uche Montana was honoured with the Trailblazer Award.

The AMVCA once again brought together filmmakers, actors, producers, and digital creators from across the continent in a celebration of African storytelling and entertainment excellence
