The federal government has scrapped the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination requirement for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education programmes.
Minister of Education Tunji Alausa announced the change on Monday at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting in Abuja. Under the new guideline, applicants will only need a minimum of four O-level credits to qualify for admission into colleges of education.
Alausa said the move is meant to reduce the administrative burden on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
