Hon. Anas Adamu Laushi, former chairman of Guri Local Government Area in Jigawa State and House of Representatives aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, has been killed by suspected gunmen after being abducted on the Abuja–Kaduna highway.

Laushi was reportedly kidnapped alongside Hon. Aliyu Tukur Gantsa while travelling on the route, which has seen repeated attacks on commuters. Security analyst Bakatsine said the victims were intercepted by armed men operating along the highway.

A ransom of ₦75 million was allegedly paid to secure Laushi’s release, but he was killed despite the payment.

The killing has renewed concerns over insecurity on the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, where kidnappings persist despite ongoing security operations.
