Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has secured the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Agege federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Obasa ran unopposed in the party primary held on Saturday across the 13 wards in the constituency. Delegates and party members endorsed him unanimously.

The Lagos assembly speaker declared his intention to contest the seat on May 13 at a stakeholder meeting in Agege.

In a statement on Sunday, Obasa thanked constituents for what he called “overwhelming support.” He said the outcome showed confidence in the shared goal of better representation and grassroots development for Agege.

“I do not take this mandate for granted. It is a responsibility I accept with humility and total commitment to continue serving our people diligently,” he said.

Obasa said he would push for more federal presence in Agege, along with youth empowerment, improved infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic initiatives if elected. He added that he would remain accessible to constituents and ensure their voices are heard in Abuja.

Obasa has been speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly for about 10 years and is considered one of the prominent figures in Lagos politics.
