The family of Oyedokun Michael Olugbade, a teacher killed after being abducted from Community High School in Ahoro-Esinle, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu for personal intervention.
Through their lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, the family submitted a petition dated May 25, 2026, asking the president to direct security agencies to recover Olugbade’s remains and secure the release of other victims still held by the abductors.
Olugbade was among several people kidnapped on May 15, 2026, when armed attackers stormed the school community. The family said he was later killed and beheaded by the assailants.
In the petition, Adeyanju described the teacher as peaceful and dedicated, and said his wife and two sons have been left traumatized by the incident. The lawyer noted that other people abducted in the same attack remain in captivity under dangerous conditions.
The petition urged Tinubu to instruct relevant security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to locate and retrieve the body so the family can conduct a burial. It also requested that the president visit the affected families to show empathy and demonstrate the government’s commitment to rescuing those still held.
The incident has renewed concerns over insecurity and attacks on schools and rural communities across Nigeria.
