Three more House of Reps members just ditched the APC for opposition parties as political realignment picks up before 2027.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read their defection letters during Wednesday’s plenary. Rabilu Bala, who reps Jama’are/Itas-Gadau in Bauchi, moved from APC to the Peoples Redemption Party. Abubakar Zango of Yola North/Yola South/Gire in Adamawa and Abdullahi El-Rasheed of Dukku/Nafada in Gombe both left APC for the African Democratic Congress.
This isn’t a one-off. The lower chamber has seen a wave of defections since January. On Tuesday alone, 8 PDP lawmakers switched to the Allied Peoples Movement, and 3 APC members moved to PDP and the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
With 2027 approaching, both the ruling party and opposition camps are reshuffling fast.
