Nigerian Army troops arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin, Kachalla Halilu, on Friday at Shinkafi Weekly Market in Zamfara State.
The 8 Division Garrison acted on credible intel that Halilu was at the market, according to counter-insurgency outlet Zagazola Makama. Troops moved in and detained him without incident.
They recovered a motorcycle, phone, cap, and livestock drugs from him. Both Halilu and the items were handed to military intelligence for questioning.
Officials say the arrest is part of wider operations to break up bandit and terrorist networks across Zamfara and the north-west. Investigations are ongoing to map his role and any accomplices.
Zamfara remains one of the hardest-hit states by banditry, but security forces have been stepping up raids in the area.
