At the Ikeja Police College in the Lagos West Senatorial District, a multitude, predominantly comprising the underprivileged and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, have convened.
They gather under the auspices of Senator Idiat Adebule, who represents the area, as she distributes palliatives to those in need.
Adebule announced the distribution of 10,000 care packages to the vulnerable within the senatorial district. These packages include essentials such as rice, semovita, beans, pasta, garri, vegetable oil, and clothing.

In a speech delivered, she acknowledged the current effort as a modest beginning and noted that this distribution marks only the start. She assured the community of forthcoming initiatives, hinting at larger and more comprehensive aid packages beyond just food items.
The full speech reads; THE NIGERIA POLICE COLLEGE GROUND, IKEJA.
Protocols,
The good leaders and people of Lagos-West Senatorial District, it is my pleasure and privilege to stand before you today to fulfil another promise made to our people to always stand by them in times of need with the distribution of food items to about ten thousand citizens.
But before I proceed further, permit me to first thank you all again
for granting me the privilege of serving you as the Senator representing Lagos-West Senatorial District at the National Assembly. You spoke explicitly when you all voted
massively for me through our great party, the APC at the 2023 general elections.
That election was a vote of confidence in me and our great party, the APC, and I hold your sacred mandate close to my heart. Thank you, my people.

Our dear country is going through a rebirth under the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR); a rebirth for economic prosperity, national stability, improved security and social justice for all. Nigeria is a unique country and populated
by highly motivated, vibrant, talented and brilliant young people as well as highly cerebral and experienced senior citizens, therefore, we have no business with socio- economic failures.
With the abundant human and materials resources at our disposal,
nothing should hold us back from achieving our glory as a nation. That is the reason we all need to pull together and channel our energies in support of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) who has been executing difficult but appropriate policies and programmes that will surely lead us to sustainable economic prosperity and national stability.
As we grapple with the fallouts of the ongoing economic
reforms, we must acknowledge that the cost of living crisis is a global phenomenon and not peculiar to Nigeria. However, the inconvenient sacrifices we are making today to build a more resilient economy, is for a better, brighter and bountiful tomorrow.

Meanwhile, as your Senator, my primary duties are to propose laws that will help us achieve our goals, represent the interest of my constituents, and oversee the executive arm of government to ensure better service delivery.
However, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, during tough times like this in the life of
our nation, it is also a matter of duty and responsibility for me to support my constituents through social intervention programmes such as the one happening today.
In the last nine months, I have implemented some support programmes for Lagos-West constituents, including:
1. Regular distribution of food items and other largesse during national celebration periods. In particular, about a thousand bags of rice were distributed in December,
2023 to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal so that our people can also celebrate the yuletide.
2. Support for young and old farmers in Lagos-West by the distribution of sizeable number of bags of fertiliser in November 2023 to help in the preparation for the planting season.
3. In December, 2023, I facilitated the training of 200 young people in fisheries at the Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, Victoria Island and each participant was given starter capital of One Hundred Thousand Naira as my contribution towards integrating the young people of Lagos-West into the new drive for marine economy in Nigeria.
Again today, we are starting the distribution of about ten thousand food packs containing various food items such as rice, semovita, vegetable oil, garri, pasta and tomato paste. Although, today’s event is a symbolic kickstart of the distribution, all beneficiaries who are unable to be here today due the inconvenience of pulling such large number in a location will surely receive their packs.
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, this is just a tip of the iceberg. We have various intervention programmes that would be executed as we go along. I am happy to announce that shortly, I will also be reaching out to senior citizens and widows as part of our social intervention programme. Dear constituents, be assured that I will stand by you in all circumstances. All I request is your support and understanding always as we roll out these programmes one after the other.
In conclusion, I wish to appreciate our invited community and political leaders, other guests and our respected constituents; that despite the short notice, you could grace this occasion with your esteemed presence; may God continue to honour and protect you and your families always.
Ladies and gentlemen, permit me to again, to use this opportunity to request your unflinching support for our President, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) in his quest to revamp our economy and secure our country; as well as our Mr.
Sellable, the performing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, who we can attest is working tirelessly to make Lagos State a better place for all of us.
To my able team under the leadership of Honourable Rasaq Olusola Ajala, the Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA; words are not enough to express my gratitude for your hard work in making this occasion a reality. God will continue to bless you all.
The good people of Lagos-West Senatorial District, as I said earlier, my best is yet to come, expect more, and it would be bigger and better. I will never tire of giving support to my people because you are the reason I am standing here today. Thank you all for your time.
Igbega Ipinle Eko ati Orile Ede Nigeria; Ajumose gbogbo wa ni.
H.E, DR. IDIAT OLURANTI ADEBULE
SENATOR REPRESENTING LAGOS WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
