Ivory Coast International and Leeds United Former Player , Max Gradel has decided to call it quit from the Ivory Coast National Team at the Age of 36.

Gradel led Ivory Coast to the AFCON Title in February 2024 after defeating Nigeria 2-1 to emerge Champions on Home soil. He was also part of the Elephants’ squad that won the AFCON tournament in 2015 .

The Captain believes it is time to leave the international football scene in order to make way for the young Ivorian footballers “”I have devoted almost 14 years of my international career to my country. It is time that I think of myself,” he said.

The Gaziantep Winger capped off his international retirement with a goal in their 2-2 international friendly against Benin Republic on Saturday evening.

The former Sivasspor player received his first call-up to the Ivory Coast national team in November 2010.He made his debut for the national side on the 5th of June 2011 scoring a total of 17 goals in 112 Appearances for the Elephants of Cote’d Ivoire.
