Namibia has been taken off the Financial Action Task Force’s “grey list,” the finance ministry said Friday.

The Paris-based watchdog announced the decision at its plenary meeting in Paris on June 19, 2026, according to a statement from Windhoek’s finance ministry. FATF is still wrapping up its meetings and has not yet commented publicly to Reuters.

Namibia was added to the list in February 2024 after FATF flagged 13 shortcomings in the country’s systems to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

An on-site review by FATF followed, and the watchdog concluded that Namibia had “largely addressed” those 13 deficiencies. That successful assessment paved the way for Friday’s removal.

Being on the grey list puts countries under enhanced monitoring. Exiting it signals to investors and banks that Namibia now meets international standards for financial crime prevention.
