Panic gripped residents and workers around the Coconut Bus Stop area of Apapa, Lagos on Friday after an explosion occurred at one of the tank farms belonging to Bono Energy
The explosion which happened around 12 noon sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, prompting fears among residents and businesses operating nearby.
Emergency responders including firefighters and security personnel, were immediately deployed to the scene to contain the situation and prevent further damage.

The cause of the explosion has yet to be determined while authorities are assessing the extent of the incident.
No official information has been released regarding casualties or damage as of the time of filing this report. The spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed this in a terse message sent to journalists on Friday.
He wrote, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a Fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow.”
