Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his Special Adviser on Higher Education, Yakubu Ibrahim, as well as the tragic loss of two children of a former Deputy Governor of the state, Baba Tela, in a road accident.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor, on behalf of his family, the government and the people of Bauchi State, extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

According to the statement, Ibrahim, a respected elder statesman, educationist and former Commissioner for Religious Affairs, died in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
Mohammed described the late adviser as a distinguished public servant whose life was defined by integrity, humility, selfless service and an unwavering commitment to the development of education in Bauchi State.
The governor noted that Ibrahim served diligently as Special Adviser on Higher Education, bringing his wealth of experience, wisdom and dedication to advancing the state’s education sector.

He also recalled Ibrahim’s earlier service as Commissioner for Religious Affairs, saying his wise counsel, extensive knowledge and commitment to public service significantly enriched government policies and programmes.
“Yakubu Ibrahim was a committed patriot, a respected educationist, a mentor to many and a bridge-builder whose contributions to the educational and moral development of our society will remain indelible,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
Mohammed added that Ibrahim’s contributions to the growth and transformation of education in both the old Bauchi State and the present-day Bauchi State would remain a lasting legacy.
The governor said the late adviser’s death was a painful loss not only to his immediate family but also to the government, people of Bauchi State and the nation at large.
Mohammed also sympathised with former Deputy Governor Baba Tela over the death of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, who were killed in a road accident on Saturday along the Bauchi–Azare Road while returning from Azare.
Describing the incident as a devastating tragedy, the governor said the loss of the two young lives had cast a shadow of grief over the state.
According to the statement, Mohammed said the deaths were not only a heartbreaking loss to Senator Tela and his family but also to the entire people of Bauchi State.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus and give their families the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
The governor also extended his sympathies to others affected by the accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries.
He urged residents of the state to remember the deceased and their families in their prayers while assuring the bereaved families of the government’s support and solidarity during this difficult period.
