The All Progressives Congress formally locked in its 2027 presidential ticket on Friday, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu set to run again alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Party leaders submitted the completed nomination forms for both men to the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during a ceremony at the Ladi Kwali International Conference Centre inside the Abuja Continental Hotel. From there, the forms will be uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission portal.
Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, presented the documents on behalf of President Tinubu.
The event drew top APC figures, including members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, federal lawmakers, ministers, and state party chairmen.
APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu described the submission as the final step of what he called a transparent internal process. He praised Tinubu’s performance so far and urged party members to stay united.
Governor Uzodimma said the smooth primaries made it easier for governors to rally behind the ticket. He pledged that APC governors would work to deliver strong results across the country in the presidential, National Assembly, and state assembly elections.
“APC is a model of internal democracy and inclusiveness,” Uzodimma said. “We will keep supporting President Tinubu to take Nigeria to greater heights.”
Receiving the forms, Chairman Yilwatda said the renewed Tinubu-Shettima ticket reflects the will of the party’s more than 12 million verified members. He pointed to the student loan program, which he said has reached over 1.5 million students, as well as agricultural programs and infrastructure projects, as evidence of the administration’s impact.
Yilwatda also highlighted the party’s digital membership database as a key advantage over rivals. He told members to focus on facts when engaging voters in their communities.
“We are going round the country to mobilise support for the President,” he said. “I am confident our governors will compete to deliver the highest number of votes. There is no shaking at all. Come 2027, our victory is assured.”
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka confirmed the ticket: “The presidential candidate of the party is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and our Vice Presidential candidate is Senator Kashim Shettima.”
The submission formally sets up Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 general election.
