The Supreme Court has upheld the final forfeiture of seven high-value properties linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, bringing an end to the legal battle over the assets.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel led by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, the apex court overturned an earlier decision of the Court of Appeal in Lagos, which had ordered a retrial of the forfeiture case.
The Supreme Court allowed the appeal and set aside the appellate court’s ruling, thereby restoring the final forfeiture order originally issued by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The judgment effectively affirms the Federal High Court’s decision to permanently forfeit the seven luxury properties linked to the former CBN governor.
The ruling marks the conclusion of Emefiele’s legal challenge against the forfeiture order.
