Eight students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade in Ogun State were abducted on Wednesday night after gunmen stormed a student residence in Ipara, Remo North Local Government Area.
According to reports, the attack happened around 9 p.m. The heavily armed assailants invaded the off-campus housing near the school and took the students away. The incident has sparked fear across the campus.
In response, the polytechnic management cancelled all computer-based tests and written examinations scheduled for Thursday, July 30.
In a notice to students, the school said the decision was due to the security situation following the abduction. It added that exams scheduled for Friday will go ahead as planned, unless a new announcement is made.
The statement urged students to “remain calm, stay positive, and continue preparing for their examinations,” while expressing hope that the situation will be resolved soon.
Security agencies have not yet released an official update on rescue efforts.
