Iran and Ethiopia have agreed to boost their bilateral relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest.
A meeting between Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh and Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga in Addis Ababa marked the beginning of this strengthened partnership.
The two countries plan to establish a joint economic commission to explore the full potential of their economic sector. They have identified key areas for cooperation, including:
- Agriculture: Collaborating on farming practices and technology
- Mining: Jointly exploring and developing mineral resources
- Manufacturing: Partnering on industrial projects and knowledge sharing
- Science and Technology: Exchanging expertise and innovation
- Food Processing and Cement: Developing industries and infrastructure
Additionally, the officials discussed opportunities for cooperation through the BRICS platform, a grouping of major emerging economies.
In a separate meeting, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and his Ethiopian counterpart Tagesse Chafo emphasized the importance of establishing diplomatic missions in each other’s capitals.
Ghalibaf noted that the opening of the Ethiopian embassy in Tehran could mark the beginning of enhanced economic and political relations.
