The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has rejected allegations of poor performance and impropriety against its management, insisting that crude oil and gas production have recorded growth under Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari.
The company was reacting to claims by the Oil and Gas Professionals Forum, which called for an investigation into the leadership of NNPC and raised concerns over production levels, oil licensing procedures and contract awards.
In a statement, NNPC said its performance figures showed a positive trend in both crude oil and gas production.
According to the company, average crude oil production, including condensate, increased from 1.60 million barrels per day in April 2025 to 1.67 million barrels per day in April 2026, representing about six per cent growth.
NNPC also disclosed that average gas production rose from 7,354 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) to 7,729 mmscfd during the same period.
The national oil company further clarified that it does not have the authority to conduct oil licensing rounds or allocate oil blocks.
It said those responsibilities are vested in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) under the Petroleum Industry Act.
NNPC urged industry stakeholders and the public to rely on verifiable corporate and regulatory data when assessing the company’s performance.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the oil and gas sector.
