The Central Bank of Kenya has retained its benchmark interest rate at 8.75% as the country continues to balance economic growth with inflation and financial stability.

The decision was announced on Tuesday, August 11, following the bank’s latest monetary policy review.

The unchanged rate means the central bank has maintained its current approach to borrowing costs, while monitoring developments in inflation, economic activity and the financial sector.

Interest rates influence the cost of borrowing for households and businesses, as well as the returns on savings and investments.

The decision comes as Kenya continues to monitor economic conditions and efforts to maintain price stability while supporting sustainable economic growth.

The central bank is expected to continue assessing inflation and other economic indicators before making further changes to its monetary policy.
