The Nigeria Football Federation has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the country’s recent poor performances in international competitions, with particular focus on the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The committee was established following Nigeria’s disappointing campaign at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Super Falcons, who are 10-time African champions and the defending WAFCON holders, were eliminated in the quarter-finals before suffering a 2-1 defeat to South Africa in the subsequent play-off for a place in the Inter-Confederation Play-Offs.
The defeat ended Nigeria’s record of appearing at every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since the tournament began in 1991.
The NFF said the committee would examine the circumstances surrounding the team’s recent setbacks and make recommendations aimed at improving the country’s performance in future international competitions.
Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, will chair the committee, while former Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie, Ladan Bosso, Mutiu Adepoju and Dr Alex Mana will serve as members.
Mr Nasiru Jibril has been appointed as the committee’s secretary.
The committee is expected to conduct a comprehensive review of the factors responsible for Nigeria’s disappointing outings and submit recommendations to the NFF.
