Yekini Idaiyi was sworn in on Monday as the new Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Idaiyi, who represents Akoko Edo II Constituency, took the oath of office during plenary. His emergence comes after the resignation of former Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.
Agbebaku stepped down following his suspension alongside the Majority Leader. The House moved quickly to fill the leadership vacuum, installing Idaiyi to steer legislative activities.
With the new speaker now in place, the Assembly is expected to resume full legislative business under his leadership.
