The campaign council backing Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has launched a post-election review to document everyone affected by violence linked to the August 15 governorship poll.

The Imole Campaign Council said on Monday that its structures in all 30 local government areas have been directed to start recording cases that happened before, during and immediately after the election. That includes people who were injured, families who lost relatives, residents whose property was damaged or destroyed, and any other identifiable victims.

Spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi said the exercise will not target party members alone.
“Every victim must be documented irrespective of political affiliation, party membership or voting preference,” he stated.

The council said the goal is to create a verifiable record of the human cost of the election and to guide next steps.
“While we are grateful to God and to the people of Osun State for the outcome of the election, we recognise that our victory cannot erase the pain of families who suffered losses or injuries,” the statement read.

Adeleke, running under the Accord, was declared winner by INEC. State Returning Officer Joshua Ogunwole announced Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Bola Oyebamiji with 444,815 votes. ADC’s Najeem Salaam placed third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke won 19 LGAs, Oyebamiji won 11.

The election period was marked by heightened tension, with reports of killings, assaults and harassment in parts of the state.

The council told its local teams to submit documentation quickly, adding that “our common humanity must now take precedence over political differences.”
