Two daughters of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, who they disclosed is battling stage-four cancer.

The actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday calling on Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with experience in cancer treatment to help save their father.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated significantly and claimed that hospitals had refused to continue treating him.

She said the family only discovered the severity of his condition about three weeks ago, noting that his outward appearance did not initially suggest how serious the illness was.

“We’re here to ask for help for my daddy. He has cancer and it’s really, really bad. And the hospitals are refusing to treat him,” Lima said.

She clarified that the family was not seeking financial donations but was appealing for medical assistance from anyone who could provide treatment or connect them with a healthcare facility willing to take on the actor’s case.

“If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, anything, we’re willing to try anything. We’re not here to ask for money,” she said.

In a separate video, Kira confirmed that her father’s cancer was at stage four, saying the hospital treating him had informed the family that it could no longer administer chemotherapy.

She appealed to medical professionals, hospitals and anyone with access to cancer treatment to come to the actor’s aid.

“If you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it’s medical or herbs, please, I’m begging you,” Kira said.

She also acknowledged the support of Senator Yayi, whom she said had been assisting the family and paying some of the medical bills.

Kira became emotional as she spoke about her father’s condition, saying she had never seen him experience such severe pain.

“He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before,” she said.

Hassan, 66, is one of the most prominent actors in Yoruba-language cinema, with a career spanning more than four decades. He has reportedly featured in more than 300 films and has built a reputation as one of the industry’s veteran performers.

As of the time of filing this report, the actor’s management and family had not issued an official statement providing further details about his diagnosis, the specific type of cancer or his current treatment.
