Armed men suspected to be bandits stormed Gubuchi community in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday night, abducting well-known businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Rabo Gesha.
According to reports gathered from the area, the attackers entered the community shooting sporadically before taking Gesha away. The incident has left residents shaken.
Security source Bakatsine confirmed the abduction on Tuesday. He described Gesha as a respected figure in Gubuchi and said the attack has deepened worries about safety in rural parts of Kaduna.
“Last night, bandits reportedly stormed Gubuchi community in Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State, shooting sporadically and abducting Alhaji Rabo Gesha, a prominent businessman and philanthropist in the community,” Bakatsine said.
The latest incident adds to growing fears over nighttime raids and kidnappings across Kaduna State. Residents say they are now anxious for Gesha’s safe return and are questioning whether security agencies can effectively protect vulnerable communities after dark.
“Prayers are with Alhaji Rabo Gesha and his family. We hope he returns home safely,” Bakatsine added.
He also raised concern about the wider pattern of violence: “How long will communities continue to live in fear of night attacks and abductions before something decisive is done?”
The attack has once again highlighted the ongoing insecurity facing rural communities in the state, where residents remain exposed to armed attacks, killings and kidnappings.
