Traffic has returned to normal on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after motorists were trapped for more than six hours in a gridlock that disrupted movement along the major highway for much of the past 24 hours.
The Mowe-Ibafo X Community confirmed the development on Wednesday morning, saying traffic had eased and that “the road is totally free.”
The development followed reports of severe congestion around the Mowe-Ibafo axis, leaving motorists and commuters travelling between Lagos and Ibadan stranded for several hours.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of the busiest highways in the country, serving as a major link between Lagos, the South-West and other parts of Nigeria.
Motorists who experienced the gridlock described the situation as a major traffic ordeal, with some spending more than six hours on the road.
The prolonged congestion disrupted movement around the Mowe-Ibafo corridor and caused significant delays for commuters and commercial transport operators.
However, the latest update indicates that the affected section of the expressway has now been cleared, allowing motorists to move freely.
Motorists have been advised to remain cautious and obey traffic regulations as normal traffic flow resumes along the highway.
