The Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar of Bauchi South has stepped down, saying a breakdown in trust and respect made it impossible to continue in the role.

Abba Aliyu Tilde submitted his resignation in a letter dated September 6, 2026, addressed to the senator. He said the decision took effect immediately.

In the letter, Tilde said he had served with “dedication, loyalty, and sincere respect,” but could no longer work in an environment where his position was not valued.

A key reason he cited was a recent visit by Senator Buba to his ward. According to Tilde, the senator met with residents there without informing him.

“A particularly disappointing incident was your recent visit to my ward, where a meeting was held with people from my ward without any notification or communication to me,” he wrote. “Given my position and my connection to the people of the ward, I found this deeply disrespectful and hurtful.”

He added that this was not an isolated case, pointing to other instances where he felt ignored despite his efforts.

“For me, any working relationship in political and public service must be built on mutual respect, communication, trust, and recognition of one another’s roles. Unfortunately, I no longer feel that these principles exist in our working relationship,” Tilde stated.
He described resigning as “the most honourable decision” and said he was leaving “with a clear conscience.”

Tilde did not link his resignation directly to the controversies currently surrounding Senator Buba.

The senator is facing renewed scrutiny after a recent interview published by social media commentator D English Alhaji. In the interview, a man identified as Hassan accused Senator Buba of links to banditry and of being involved with the training of criminal elements.

Hassan named specific individuals — Baba Ngida and Adam — alleging they were brought to Abuja for training in drone operations and sniping. He also claimed Adam had once served as an aide to Senator Buba at the National Assembly.
“I don’t know now,” Hassan said of Adam’s current status.

Hassan said he had voice recordings and photographs related to the claims, and that he had reported the matter to DSS officials. He alleged he was told the matter could not be pursued because “this person is powerful.”

The influencer pressed Hassan to name the senator during the interview, which is what led to Senator Buba being publicly named.

Senator Buba has not issued a public response to the new allegations as of press time.
