African Champions, South Africa arrived in Abuja on Sunday for the first leg of their 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Banyana Banyana arrived in Nigeria early to continue their preparations for the final round qualifier which will take place against the Super Falcons at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, April 5th, 2024. Desiree Elis’s side started their preparation early last week Monday in Pretoria, South Africa.

The foreign-based players are expected to start arriving at camp on Monday (today). South Africa will then host their rival in the reverse fixture next week Tuesday in Pretoria. The overall winners will play in Group C alongside Brazil, Spain and Japan at the Paris 2024 Olympics. They had their first training session on Monday in Abuja.

Two slots are available for Africa to qualify for the women’s Olympic event in Paris. Morocco and Zambia will battle for the other ticket during the same period of the qualifiers. The overall winners between the two teams will join the USA, Germany and Australia in Group B.

The Women’s Olympic Football Tournament will kick off on the 25th of July and end on the 10th of August 2024.
