The mass abduction of 276 schoolgirls in 2014 by Boko Haram militants from northeastern Nigeria shocked the world and led to the #BringBackOurGirls global campaign, which gained support from figures like former US First Lady Michelle Obama.

Since then, over 180 girls have either escaped or been rescued from Boko Haram hideouts in the Sambisa forest of northeastern Borno state. Unfortunately, some of the girls who returned home were pregnant or had children.

Tragically, around 90 girls are still missing and believed to be held captive by the militants.
