Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has signed a new contract with his club, extending his stay until the summer of 2028.

The 24-year-old joined Udinese last summer from Watford for around €2 million and gradually established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. He kept five clean sheets in 21 league appearances, playing a key role in helping the team avoid relegation in the 2023/2024 season.

Okoye’s strong performances late last season earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and South Africa under former Coach, Finidi George in June. However, he did not play, with Stanley Nwabali retaining the starting spot.

Despite interest from two other Italian clubs, the German-born Nigerian decided to commit his future to Udinese, signing a new deal that keeps him at the club until 2028.

Udinese announced the contract extension on their official website, praising Okoye’s performances and expressing enthusiasm for continuing their partnership. Okoye has started the current season strongly, keeping a clean sheet in two games.
