Flooding has severed the Azare-Ja’amare road on the Kano-Maiduguri Highway in Bauchi State, causing significant disruption.
Governor Bala Mohammed, who inspected the scene, expressed concern over the potential threat to nearby communities if water flow isn’t managed effectively.
He has reported the situation to the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who had recently visited the area when the road was first at risk.
This incident follows heavy rainfall two weeks ago, which severely damaged another section of the federal highway, particularly between Malori and Guskuri villages in Katagum Local Government Area. The flood left a large crater in the road, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.
Bauchi State, located in Nigeria’s North-East geopolitical zone, has been grappling with widespread flooding in recent weeks, resulting in the loss of lives and the destruction of thousands of homes.
