Borno State’s Commissioner of Finance, Ahmed Ali Ahmed, was found dead on Monday at his residence on Damboa Road in Maiduguri. Sources reported that his bedroom door was forced open when he failed to wake up at his usual time, raising concerns among those in the house.
The state’s Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, confirmed Ahmed’s death in an official statement. Tar also announced that the burial would take place on Monday evening at Ahmed’s residence, following Islamic rites.
Ahmed, who was sworn in as Commissioner on August 10, 2024, had previously served as the State Zonal Manager of Zenith Bank in Maiduguri. This marks the second commissioner Governor Babagana Zulum has lost since the start of his second term in May 2023, along with a special adviser.
