Dr. Idiat Adebule, the senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, has distributed 1,000 forms to youths across 28 local councils in her district for skills acquisition training.
The initiative was unveiled during a Stakeholders’ Engagement meeting held in Ikeja, attended by party leaders and members from across the district.

The training, set to cover five vocational areas—leatherwork, confectionery, fashion designing, barbing, and hairdressing—is aimed at equipping young constituents with essential skills by the end of 2024.

Upon completion, participants will receive starter packs to facilitate their transition into the workforce as self-employed individuals.

“Our focus is to train 1,000 youths in Lagos West to be proficient in these vocational skills before the end of 2024,” Senator Adebule stated. “Upon completion, the beneficiaries will be supported with starter packs to make their introduction to the league of employers of labor seamless.”

During the event, Senator Adebule highlighted her ongoing efforts to support the district. Since December 2022, her interventions have included distributing 10,000 food packs across the 28 local councils to alleviate the impact of the rising cost of living. In addition, she has regularly provided grains, cash gifts, and other essential items during major celebrations, benefiting between 750 and 1,000 constituents at each event.

Adebule also mentioned her contributions to local agriculture, including the distribution of 300 bags of fertilizer to young and old farmers in January, in preparation for the planting season. She further noted her facilitation of training for 200 youths in fisheries at the Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research in Victoria Island last November. Each participant in that program received a N100,000 starter capital to support their entry into Nigeria’s emerging Marine and Blue Economy sector.
Looking ahead, Senator Adebule assured her constituents that plans are underway to attract larger projects to the Lagos West district. She appealed for continued patience, understanding, and support from her constituents as she works to enhance their living standards.
APC Lagos State Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, who attended the event, praised Senator Adebule for her effective representation in the National Assembly, noting that she has not only sponsored bills but also attracted significant projects to her district. APC Lagos West Apex Leader Prince Rabiu Oluwa and Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council member Chief M.A. Taiwo echoed these sentiments, commending her for her efforts and urging her to continue delivering impactful projects to the district.
