Nigeria’s Super Eagles interim head coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has shared his thoughts about the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda, scheduled for tomorrow at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali.

Eguavoen, who also serves as the Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director and is a former KAA Gent defender, emphasized that the Super Eagles will approach the Wasps with great respect while staying focused on securing all three points.

“We have a talented squad capable of playing various styles, systems, and formations. So, whatever formation we decide on tomorrow, we have the players to execute it effectively,” Eguavoen remarked.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s recent 2023 AFCON silver medal, Eguavoen acknowledged the high expectations from fans and the nation.

“Our country expects us to win, regardless of the opponent. We approach every match with respect, and that’s exactly how we’ll approach Rwanda,” he added.

The former Sunshine Stars head coach also cautioned against complacency, reminding his team of the unpredictable nature of modern football.

“Football has evolved, and you can’t underestimate anyone these days. If you do, you risk being shocked. We’ll stay vigilant. Remember, any team facing Nigeria always tries to elevate their game, so we must be prepared,” he stated.

Nigeria enters this match on the back of a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin Republic just two days ago at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The Super Eagles will look to carry that momentum into Kigali as they aim to strengthen their campaign for a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
