Akika was whisked away by gunmen at his Olorunda residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State’s capital.

Sources said the politician was released Wednesday night.

However, it is uncertain if ransom was paid to secure his release as at the time of filing this report.

Akika was said to have been taken to a medical facility for examination.

Only few days ago, his loyalists offered interdenominational prayers to ask God for his release.

Bene, as Akika is fondly called, reportedly used his closeness to the governor to facilitate developmental projects, particularly, the Akobo-Olorunda axis of Lagelu local government, an action that made traditional rulers to install him as Agbaakin of Olorunda.
