In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was revealed that 2,666 out of 3,880 verified state pensioners, who retired between 2015 and 2024, have received their full entitlements. Additionally, 3,840 of the 4,804 verified retired local government workers, including primary school teachers, who retired between 2011 and 2021, have also been paid in nine batches.

Governor Lawal’s administration has cleared N9.36 billion out of the N13.78 billion owed, covering 6,506 out of the 8,684 verified retirees.

This payment is part of the governor’s broader effort to reform the state’s civil service and settle the outstanding arrears left by previous administrations.
