The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation kicked off its summit on Thursday in Cairo, Egypt, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan among the prominent leaders in attendance.
Joining him at the high-profile event are Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Held under the theme “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy,” the summit is set to address pressing economic and social issues. A special session will focus on the ongoing crises in Palestine and Lebanon, featuring Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
Founded in Istanbul in 1997, the D-8 group seeks to enhance economic and social ties among its eight member states: Türkiye, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iran, and Malaysia.
