Dangote Refinery has announced a partnership with MRS Oil and Gas to make petrol available at ₦935 per litre at retail outlets across the country.

This follows a recent reduction in the ex-depot price of petrol from ₦970 to ₦899.50 per litre. Anthony Chiejina, Head of Media Communications at Dangote Refinery, revealed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the new pricing, already implemented in Lagos, will be extended nationwide starting Monday. This move builds on an earlier reduction on November 24, when the ex-depot price of petrol dropped from ₦990 to ₦970 per litre.

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Ltd., commended President Bola Tinubu for the success of the naira-for-crude swap deal, which he credited with reducing petroleum product prices and benefiting the Nigerian economy.

“To ensure that this price reduction directly benefits consumers, we have partnered with MRS to distribute petrol at ₦935 per litre through its retail outlets nationwide,” Dangote said.

He encouraged other oil marketers, including NNPC Retail, to participate in this initiative to ensure that Nigerians can access high-quality petrol at more affordable rates.

“The Dangote Refinery exists to serve Nigeria and Nigerians. We remain committed to collaborating with stakeholders to provide premium petroleum products that are cost-effective, vehicle-friendly, and safe for public health,” Dangote emphasized.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), led by President Tinubu, approved a policy in September allowing crude oil sales to local refineries in naira, alongside the purchase of petroleum products in naira. This policy, effective October 1, has reduced pressure on the dollar and contributed to the stabilization of the naira.
