BREAKING : Nigerian Government Declares December 25, 26, and January 1 as Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Monday.

In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo conveyed warm greetings to Nigerians, urging them to embody the season’s core values of love, peace, and unity.

“The Christmas season offers an opportunity for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, let us practice kindness and extend goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” he said.

The minister also called on Nigerians to prioritize strengthening family and community bonds, fostering harmony that promotes national development.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to its citizens, he added, “The Federal Government remains dedicated to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity for all Nigerians.”

Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would usher the nation into a more prosperous 2025.
