KRC Genk president, Peter Croonen has firmly stated that Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare will remain with the club during the January transfer window, despite interest from several English Premier League clubs.

Arokodare has been in exceptional form this season, rebounding strongly after a challenging start to his career at the Belgian club. The 24-year-old currently leads Genk in both goals and assists, cementing his status as Belgium’s top scorer across Europe’s major leagues this campaign.
With 14 goals and six assists in 22 matches across all competitions, Arokodare’s performances have attracted attention from clubs like Fulham and Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Genk has historically relied on transfer revenue, often selling key players during the winter transfer window, including stars like Paul Onuachu, Daniel Munoz, and Joseph Paintsil. However, Croonen is adamant that Arokodare will not follow suit.
“The intention is absolutely to keep him. And that will happen,” Croonen told DAZN, dismissing the rumors of a potential transfer.
Arokodare capped off an impressive year with a brace in a 2-2 draw against Royal Antwerp on Boxing Day, ending 2024 as the league’s leading scorer and reinforcing his value to Genk’s ambitions for the remainder of the season.
