Super Eagles of Nigeria and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi brought joy to over 2,000 children in Ajegunle, Lagos State, on Boxing Day as part of Christmas celebrations in the area.

The event, held at the Maracana Sports Centre, was organized in collaboration with businessman, Yemi Idowu, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Chairman Fatai Ayoola, and the traditional ruler of Iwa and Apapa, Mohammed Amodu-Tijani.
Ndidi, currently recovering from a hamstring injury, took on the role of serving guests and distributing food to the children. The 28-year-old shared that his own childhood Christmas experiences inspired him to organize the event.

“I believe these kids deserve something special during this festive period,” Ndidi said. “It’s a memory they’ll cherish, and it’s heartwarming to see their happiness. Doing something for children brings joy to adults too, encouraging them to give back. I’m happy to create memories for these kids, as I didn’t have this experience growing up in the barracks.”

Yemi Idowu, CEO of Cana Sports and host of the event, praised Ndidi for his contribution. “This annual celebration is about bringing joy to the children, and it’s impactful when we work together, as we have done with Ndidi, the king, and the chairman.”

Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Chairman Fatai Ayoola added that his role was to ensure smooth coordination and crowd management. “We’ve worked to make sure every child, whether pre-registered or not, feels included in this celebration. It’s an ongoing effort to give Ajegunle kids a grand Christmas.”

This festive initiative marked another heartwarming effort to make this Christmas season unforgettable for the children of Ajegunle.
